The Bridge
ABOUT THE BRIDGE
Campus LKR has its own lake, which was recreated during the construction of No. 18, Breeltevej, and the surrounding parkland in 2006–07. Spanning the lake was a 26-meter bridge, originally designed by architect and Royal Building Inspector Peter Holsøe of Hvidt & Mølgaard as a near-copy of a bridge in Kyoto. The original bridge, built in 2007, was made of Superwood, then a product of the VKR Group. The wood impregnation used contained neither heavy metals nor organic solvents, posing no risk to the environment. In 2024, the bridge was replaced with a new one, designed and built by the carpentry firm Søren & Frans using untreated German oak.
