COMMON SPRUCE

One part of Campus LKR’s path system is called the LKR path (Sections A to F on the map). Along the LKR path, six sections have been planted with the most common species of tree used in the production of the VKR Group’s windows and doors.

ABOUT COMMON SPRUCE

F: Common Spruce

[Picea Abies]

Growth Region: Predominantly found in central, northern, and eastern Europe.

Common spruce, also known as Norway spruce, from Sweden and Finland has been used as a supplementary material alongside Nordic pine (Pinus sylvestris) in VELUX production in Hungary. It is also utilized in the manufacturing of Rationel and VELFAC doors within the DOVISTA Group. Although common spruce is abundant in Nordic forests, it is rarely used in window production due to the presence of numerous knots and resin pockets in the timber.
