An analemma is the figure-eight pattern the Sun traces in the sky when observed at the same time each day over a year. 

Our analemma was created by artist Ruth Campau and was inaugurated on June 20, 2025. The highlighted dates on the gable mark special commemorative days for the VKR Group (see below). On a sunny day, the shadow of the column will fall on these markings at 12 or 1 p.m. (daylight saving time) on the corresponding date.
An analemma is shaped like a figure-eight (or sometimes a lopsided 8) due to two main astronomical effects:

1. Earth's axial tilt (obliquity)
   •    Earth’s axis is tilted about 23.5° relative to its orbital plane.
   •    This tilt affects the Sun’s declination (its apparent height in the sky) over the year, causing the north-south (vertical) variation in the analemma.
2. Earth’s elliptical orbit (orbital eccentricity)
   •    Earth's orbit around the Sun is not a perfect circle—it's an ellipse, meaning Earth moves faster when closer to the Sun (perihelion) and slower when farther (apheli-on).
   •    This uneven speed causes the Sun to appear ahead or behind its "mean" position, creating the east-west (horizontal) variation in the analemma.

August 22: (The patent for the VELUX PVX pivot hinge is granted in 1964, which is devel-oped into PV-68 in March 1968).

September 15: (Lars Kann-Rasmussen joins the VKR Group at VELUX France in 1964).

November 11: (Foundation stone laid for the first VELUX factory in Eastern Europe, in Hungary, 1986 — three years before the fall of the Berlin Wall).

December 21: (The Villum Foundation, the VELUX Foundation, and the Employee Founda-tion for the VKR Group are established in 1971, 1981, and 1991, respectively).
